Over the course of a Monday (November 23) press conference, San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin announced his office has filed five charges against ex officer Chris Samayoa, who is accused of killing 42-year-old Keita O’Neil in December of 2017.
According to ABC7 News, the formal charges against Samayoa include voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, assault by a police officer and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence.
“As far as we are aware, this is the first-ever time that the San Francisco District Attorney’s office has filed homicide charges against a law enforcement officer for a homicide while on duty,” Boudin said.
