Today officially marks one year since Ahmaud Arbery’s passing. On this day last year, he was murdered by Greg and Travis McMichael while jogging near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia. It wasn’t until months later that the McMichaels and William Bryan were apprehended for his death. As Ahmaud’s family continues to fight for justice in his case, his mom, Wanda Cooper has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the men responsible for her boy’s death.
According to WSBTV, Glynn County police, and Jackie Johnson and George Barnhill, the district attorneys who originally handled the case, were also named in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleged, “For almost three months, Glynn County police officers, the chief of police, and two prosecutors conspired to hide the circumstances surrounding Ahmaud’s death and to safeguard the men who murdered him.” The lawsuit continued to allege that the cover-up started to ……
